What’s your ZQ™?
Every morning, Zeo will tell you your ZQ — a single number that objectively measures
the quality and quantity of your sleep. If you can measure it, you can learn to improve it.
What is ZQ?
In a single number, ZQ objectively measures the quality and quantity of your sleep by calculating the total amount of time you slept (Total Z) and adding and subtacting points based on the amount of restorative sleep (Deep and REM) and disruptive sleep (time and duration spent awake) that you get throughout the night. The result is a simple, unique way to both measure and understand your sleep.
ZQ averages and ranges based on age
Take a look at the chart below to see typical ZQ score averages and ranges for different age group.
Adapted from published studies referenced in the
Sleep Information Center.
The National Institutes
of Health recommends that adults sleep 7 to 9 hours each night,
regardless of age.
What should your ZQ be?
Think of Zeo as a scale for your sleep, with ZQ as the sleep equivalent of weight. There’s no “best” ZQ. Just like your optimal weight depends on your body type, age, and fitness goals, your optimal ZQ depends on your lifestyle, age, and sleep goals. Use your own ZQ as a starting point, set your goals, and let Zeo show you your progress.
How is ZQ scored?
ZQ is scored by adding points for Total Z and restorative sleep, and subtracting points for Time in Wake and Times Woken. The resulting number lets you know just how well you slept at a glance.
Look at your ZQ Breakdown in your myZeo account to see exactly how many points you gained or lost.
The Power of ZQ in Your Life
Fill out your Online Sleep Journal
every day.
Discover cause-and-effect patterns between your lifestyle and your ZQ.
If you find that your ZQ isn’t in the typical range for your age, think about what unique factors might be impacting your sleep. Then, track those factors in your online sleep journal each day. That way, you can use the Zeo Cause and Effect tool in your myZeo account to compare your ZQ to different factors. You can also track your daily energy, mood, and focus, and use the Cause and Effect tool to find the ZQ where you feel your best.
